Pray with Joy
Monday Apr 15, 2024
Monday Apr 15, 2024
In this sermon, part 2 of a series on relationships and joy, Ken teaches from Philippians 1 on the importance of praying with joy for the people in our lives - even the difficult relationships.
He challenges us not just to complain or gossip about the people who irritate us, but to pray for them with a joyful heart. Ken provides a powerful prayer from Philippians 1:9-11 that we can pray over our relationships:
Pray that they will grow in love
Pray that they will make wise choices
Pray that they will live with integrity
Pray that they will become like Jesus
When we pray these things over our relationships, God can change not just the other person's heart, but our own as well. Rather than taking sides, we align ourselves with God's heart by praying blessings over even our most difficult relationships.
If you want more joyful relationships, put this Biblical advice into practice. Pray with joy over your family, friends, co-workers and even your enemies. As Ken says, "God just might change their heart, I can almost guarantee he'll change yours."

The Attitude of Gratitude
Monday Apr 08, 2024
Monday Apr 08, 2024
In this sermon, Ken focuses on how developing an attitude of gratitude is key to having happier relationships and a more joyful life. He draws lessons from Philippians 1, where the apostle Paul models gratitude toward the church in Philippi despite being in prison.
Ken emphasizes that happiness doesn't come from changing our circumstances, but from choosing to be grateful for the people in our lives - our spouses, parents, children, coworkers, etc. He challenges us to have "selective memory" by dwelling on the positive aspects of our relationships rather than the negative.
Practical tips are given for cultivating gratitude as a habit, such as praying short prayers of thanks when we think about our loved ones, or asking God to remind us why we love and appreciate them. Ken invites listeners to write down a person or situation they need to be more grateful for and commit to finding reasons for gratitude this week.
The sermon also touches on how God's goal isn't just for us to be happy, but to become holy through life's difficult circumstances. Yet paradoxically, choosing gratitude can lead to greater joy and happier relationships along the way.

What Did Jesus Do on the Cross?
Monday Mar 25, 2024
Monday Mar 25, 2024
This powerful sermon examines the prophecy in Isaiah 53 about the suffering Messiah and how it was fulfilled by Jesus on the cross. Ken walks through Isaiah 53 verse-by-verse, showing how it vividly describes Christ's crucifixion hundreds of years before it happened.
But more than just predicting Jesus' death, this passage reveals what He accomplished through His sacrifice. On the cross, Jesus took our punishment and gave us forgiveness, took our wounds and gave us healing, took our sin and gave us His righteousness, took our death and gave us life, took our curse and gave us blessing, took our poverty and gave us abundance, took our rejection and gave us acceptance, and took our shame and gave us glory.
Ken drives home the incredible exchange that happened at Calvary - Jesus took upon Himself everything evil, so that we could receive everything good from God. He then shares from the words of Jesus and Peter how we can participate in this salvation - by believing in Christ and being baptized.
This gospel presentation is a powerful call to embrace all that Jesus purchased for us through His atoning death. You'll never look at Easter the same way after understanding the full scope of what Christ accomplished on the cross according to Isaiah's prophecy.

What to Wear in Battle

In this powerful sermon from Ephesians 6, Ken provides very practical and spiritual instruction on how to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. He breaks down each piece of the full armor of God - the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit, and prayer.
Ken emphasizes that this is not a physical battle against flesh and blood, but a spiritual battle against evil spiritual forces. The only way to withstand the enemy's attacks is to put on the full armor of God and fight in the strength of the Lord, not our own strength.
You'll be equipped with defensive armor like the breastplate of Christ's righteousness to stand against accusations, and offensive weapons like the sword of the Spirit (God's word) and prayer. Ken shares helpful insights on praying at all times in the Spirit's power.
Whether you are facing spiritual attacks or simply want to be prepared to stand firm, this inspiring message will encourage you to daily put on the full armor of God so that you can withstand the evil day and still be standing victorious at the end. Don't go into battle alone - stand together with your church family and the Lord Himself!

How To Resist the Devil
Monday Mar 11, 2024
Monday Mar 11, 2024
In this powerful sermon, Ken dives deep into the biblical instructions for resisting the devil's temptations and winning the spiritual battle. Drawing from James 1:14 and James 4:6-8, he provides a practical 4-step process for actively resisting the enemy:
1. Humble yourself before God, recognizing the battle belongs to Him.2. Submit yourself fully to God - your body, mind, emotions, and will. 3. Actively resist the devil by speaking the name of Jesus, reminding Satan of the cross, speaking God's Word.4. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you, strengthening and empowering you.
Ken powerfully illustrates how the devil flees when we follow these biblical steps to resist him in the power and authority given to us through Jesus Christ. Get equipped to stand firm against temptation and live victoriously in spiritual warfare!

It's All In Your Head
Monday Mar 04, 2024
Monday Mar 04, 2024
In this hard-hitting sermon, Ken Holsberry pulls back the curtain on one of the main battlegrounds of spiritual warfare - our thought lives. He explains that while spiritual warfare is very real, the primary battles take place in our minds and thought patterns.
Ken exposes some of the common ways the enemy establishes "strongholds" in our minds - wrong beliefs and destructive thought patterns that exert tremendous influence over our choices and behaviors. These include lies from the enemy, temptations, childhood wounds, and traumatic experiences.
Learn the tell-tale signs that the enemy has established strongholds in your thought life. Ken also outlines practical strategies for spiritual warfare that help demolish those strongholds. These include confessing sins, taking personal responsibility for your life, capturing thoughts through assertiveness, renewing your mind in Scripture, and relying on the Holy Spirit.
This sermon will equip you to identify enemy strongholds in your thought life and break free from their influence through God's power at work in you! Come learn how to defeat the enemy's lies and live in the freedom for which Christ has set you free.

Let It Go
Monday Feb 26, 2024
Monday Feb 26, 2024
This message by Ken Holsberry was presented on Sunday, February 25, 2024. This is the sixth message in the "How to Protect Your Family Against Spiritual Attacks" series.
Ken Holsberry preached about the story in John 11 where Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. He focuses on Jesus' command at the end to "take off the grave clothes and let him go." Even though Lazarus was raised to life, he was still bound in the wrappings of death. In the same way, Christians can be made spiritually alive in Christ but still be wrapped up and bound by the grave clothes of their sin. This keeps them from fully walking with God, worshiping him freely, serving others effectively, hearing God's voice clearly, seeing God at work around them, speaking God's truth boldly, and understanding spiritual things.
Holsberry cautions that you can't take these grave clothes off by yourself - you need help from mature believers who have gone through this process. He then points to Colossians 3 which lists virtues like compassion, patience and love that believers should "put on", connecting them to the fruit of the Spirit. He notes we can't manufacture these qualities through our effort, so the habit we really need is abiding in Christ. As we stick close to Jesus, he will produce his character in us and we'll be clothed with him rather than sin.
In closing, Holsberry challenges listeners identify what "grave clothes" they need to let go of, who can help them in that process, and commits to clothing themselves in Christ through abiding in him in every area of life. He prays that God would empower believers by his Spirit to experience the depth of his love, be filled with his fullness, and accomplish great things for his glory.
